Thorp was the first person to prove that, mathematically speaking, counting cards was a method that could trump house advantage in blackjack. As the first of its kind, the book was an instant success. Today, there are over one million copies in print.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thorp\u2019s book was highly researched with computer programs and equations, so it\u2019s almost purely scientific. In fact, he considered his work in blackjack strategy as academic research.
